Submission Preparation Checklist
Before proceeding, authors must confirm that the submission meets the following requirements:
- The manuscript is original and has not been previously published in substantially the same form.
- The manuscript is not currently under consideration by another journal.
- The manuscript falls within the aims and scope of the Dyal Singh Journal of Life Sciences.
- All authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript.
- All individuals listed as authors meet appropriate authorship criteria and have made genuine scholarly contributions to the work.
- The author names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID iDs where available, and author order entered in the submission system are accurate.
- The manuscript has been prepared according to the journal's Author Guidelines.
- The title accurately and concisely represents the study.
- An appropriate abstract and relevant keywords have been provided.
- The methodology is described sufficiently to permit scientific evaluation and, where reasonably possible, replication.
- Appropriate statistical methods have been used and clearly reported.
- Ethical approval has been obtained and reported where required.
- Informed consent has been obtained and reported where applicable.
- Animal welfare and ethical requirements have been fulfilled where applicable.
- Appropriate reporting guidelines have been followed for the study design.
- Tables and figures are numbered, appropriately titled, cited in the manuscript, and supplied in suitable quality.
- References have been checked for accuracy and consistency.
- All sources of funding and financial support have been disclosed.
- All actual or potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
- An Author Contribution Statement has been included where required.
- A Data Availability Statement has been provided where applicable.
- Any substantive use of generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted tools has been appropriately disclosed.
- Required permissions have been obtained for copyrighted material.
- The manuscript has been checked for plagiarism, inappropriate text recycling, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of publication misconduct.
- All required manuscript and supplementary files have been prepared for upload.
- The information entered into OJS corresponds accurately with the submitted manuscript.
Botany
The Botany Section of the Dyal Singh Journal of Life Sciences publishes original and scholarly contributions concerning plants, plant-associated organisms, plant diversity, function, ecology, utilization, conservation, and related areas of plant science.
Manuscripts submitted to this section should make a meaningful contribution to botanical knowledge and should be based on scientifically sound experimental, observational, field, laboratory, molecular, computational, taxonomic, ecological, or analytical methods.

Taxonomic studies should, where applicable, provide adequate information concerning specimen identification, collection locality, voucher specimens, herbarium deposition, nomenclature, and relevant collection permissions.
The Botany Section considers Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Reviews, Short Communications, Methodological Articles, Perspectives, and other scholarly contributions falling within its scope.
Purely descriptive studies lacking adequate scientific methodology, originality, or analytical interpretation may not be considered for publication.
Zoology
The Zoology Section publishes scientific research concerning animals, animal diversity, biological processes, ecology, evolution, behavior, physiology, conservation, and related areas of animal sciences.
Manuscripts should present scientifically meaningful findings supported by appropriate experimental, field, laboratory, observational, molecular, ecological, or analytical methods.

Research involving animals must comply with applicable institutional and national ethical requirements. Where ethical approval is required, authors must identify the approving body and provide the relevant approval information.
Animal studies should apply appropriate welfare principles and recognized reporting standards where relevant.
The Zoology Section considers Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Reviews, Short Communications, Methodological Articles, Perspectives, and other relevant scholarly work.
Studies based solely on routine observations without adequate scientific analysis or significance may be declined during editorial screening.
Microbiology
The Microbiology Section publishes research concerning microorganisms and their biological, medical, environmental, agricultural, industrial, molecular, and biotechnological significance.
Submitted manuscripts should provide scientifically rigorous and appropriately controlled investigations of microorganisms, microbial communities, microbial processes, or microbial applications.

Authors should identify microbial species, strains, isolates, culture conditions, and identification methods with sufficient detail for scientific evaluation.
Where appropriate, manuscripts should report:
- strain or isolate identifiers;
- culture collection numbers;
- molecular accession numbers;
- antimicrobial testing standards;
- positive and negative controls;
- biosafety procedures; and
- relevant ethical or institutional approvals.
The Microbiology Section considers Original Research Articles, Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Short Communications, Methodological Articles, and other scientifically relevant contributions.
Routine antimicrobial screening or purely descriptive isolation studies may be considered only where they demonstrate adequate novelty, methodological quality, and scientific significance.
Biotechnology
The Biotechnology Section publishes research applying biological systems, organisms, cells, molecules, computational approaches, and biological processes to scientific, agricultural, medical, environmental, industrial, and technological problems.
The section encourages innovative and methodologically rigorous research that advances understanding or application of biotechnology.

Studies involving molecular or genomic datasets should provide sufficient methodological information and, where appropriate, accession numbers or repository information for supporting data.
Bioinformatics and computational studies should include adequate validation and should not rely solely on unverified computational prediction where experimental or independent validation would reasonably be expected.
The Biotechnology Section considers Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Reviews, Short Communications, Methodological Articles, Computational Studies, Perspectives, and other relevant contributions.
Manuscripts describing only routine application of established techniques without a meaningful scientific contribution may not be suitable for publication.
Human Nutrition and Dietetics
The Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) Section publishes research concerning nutrition, diet, food intake, nutritional status, diet-related health, nutritional interventions, public health nutrition, clinical nutrition, and evidence-based dietetic practice.
The section welcomes experimental, clinical, observational, epidemiological, community-based, laboratory, public-health, and interdisciplinary nutrition research.

Human-participant research must comply with appropriate ethical requirements.
Authors should report, where applicable:

- anthropometric procedures;
- nutritional databases;
- intervention protocols;
- sample-size justification;
- potential confounding variables; and
- appropriate statistical analysis.
Randomized interventions, observational studies, systematic reviews, and other study designs should follow the relevant recognized reporting guidelines.
The HND Section considers Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, Short Communications, Clinical or Community Studies, Methodological Articles, and other scholarly contributions within nutrition and dietetics.
Manuscripts making therapeutic or public-health recommendations must ensure that conclusions are proportionate to the strength of the evidence.
Interdisciplinary Life Sciences
The Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Section is intended for manuscripts that meaningfully integrate two or more disciplines represented within the scope of DSJLS or combine life sciences with another scientifically relevant discipline.
Authors should select this section where the manuscript cannot reasonably be classified principally under Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Human Nutrition and Dietetics.

Merely using techniques from more than one discipline does not automatically make a manuscript interdisciplinary. The research question itself should demonstrate a meaningful integration of scientific disciplines.
The Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Section considers Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Reviews, Short Communications, Methodological Articles, Perspectives, and other relevant multidisciplinary contributions.
The Editor may transfer a manuscript from this section to a specialized disciplinary section, or vice versa, when appropriate.
